India By The Nile
Forging India-Egypt friendship through heritage and entertainment
India by the Nile, India’s largest ever cultural festival in Egypt, made its debut in 2013 in Cairo and Alexandria, in association with the Indian Embassy. A festival of the performing & visual arts, it is a celebration of India’s cultural dynamism, blending classical and contemporary offerings of music, theatre, dance, food, film, literature, and craft. The month-long festival is an outstanding success in terms of audience response, media coverage and the relationships that were established between the Indian artistes and their Egyptian counterparts. A conscious effort was made to strengthen local collaborations and involve Egyptian dignitaries and celebrities at every possible opportunity. The expansion of the festival to more cities in Egypt indicates that partnerships have been forged and friendships encouraged between the two nations.
