Director of ISRO's Directorate of Human Spaceflight Programme
Imtiaz Ali Khan, currently Director at the Directorate of Human Spaceflight Programme at ISRO HQ, joined the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, Trivandrum, in 1999. He has worked in the development and realisation of Solid Propellant Rocket Motors for PSLV, GSLV and other ISRO projects. He has also contributed to the development of many new formulations, including the PS0M-XL rocket motors used for the first time in PSLV-C11 (Chandrayaan-I) mission, S-200 igniters, Special Purpose Motors and Advanced Technology Vehicle Motors. He was awarded the ISRO Young scientist award in 2010. He served at the Embassy of India, Paris as Counsellor (Space). As many as six new MoUs/Agreements were signed during his tenure and 4 launches of Indian satellites were carried out from Arianespace, France. He represented India at the United Nations Council for Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS), Vienna, and worked closely with space agencies of other countries including Germany, Israel, Switzerland, Europe, UK and Norway. He was Officer on Special Duty at Department of Space Branch Secretariat, New Delhi, and was responsible for interactions with Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Parliament Secretariat, Office of MoS and other Ministries on matters related to Space applications & satellite utilisation.
