Shylashri Shankar is a senior fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. Her recent book, Turmeric Nation: A Passage Through India’s Tastes, won the AUTHER Award for best nonfiction in 2021. Her previous books have tackled the themes of how the law and courts deal with religious identity, civil liberties, and social rights. She has written on food and gardening for Open magazine and has just begun a new fortnightly column on crime fiction.
