Yangchenla Bhutia

Yangchenla Bhutia is an Assistant Scientific Officer (ASO) at the Department of Science and Technology, GoS since 2020. Her research primarily focuses on the forest ecology of the Sikkim Himalayas, and her Ph.D. thesis involved the study of Oak (Buk, Kastus species) and associated trees of Sikkim Himalaya. Bhutia has been engaged in the wetland mapping of Sikkim using satellite images, and she is currently writing the Sikkim State Action Plan on Climate Change (SSAPCC) as mandated by the MoEF&CC, GoI. In 2019, she received the prestigious Young Scientist Award from IUFRO and EFI.
