Dr. Achal Bhagat

Dr. Achal Bhagat trained as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist at PGIMER, Chandigarh and Oxford, UK. He is presently Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. He is also Chairperson, Action for Ability Development and Inclusion, working on Disability Rights and Inclusion in India. He is Chairperson, Saarthak, a Mental Health Rights organisation, which he founded in 1995, to work in South Asia. Dr. Bhagat has provided leadership to mental health and development teams reaching out to diverse groups of people. The target groups have included people in custodial care, young adult survivors of sexual abuse, women surviving violence and abuse, people with physical disability, people with psychiatric disability, the homeless, survivors of trafficking, fire tragedies, earthquakes, children in need of care and protection, children affected by HIV/AIDS and the terminally ill.
